Every Scouting unit “belongs” to a local organization like a school, religious institution, or service club. A chartered organization is a community-based group whose objectives, mission, and methodologies are compatible with those of Scouting America’s program. It holds the charter to operate the unit and provides key support, including recruiting adult leaders, providing meeting spaces, and facilitating Scouting programs. Chartered organizations ensure that Scouting values align with the community and play a vital role in helping youth develop character and citizenship.
Chartered Organization Representative (COR) – Ron Gunter
- The Chartered Organization Representative is the direct contact between the unit and the Chartered Organization, but also serves as the organization’s contact with the District Committee and the local council
- The Chartered Organization Representative may become a member of the district committee and is a voting member of the council (note: if the chartered organization has more than one unit, one representative serves them all)
- The Chartered Organization Representative appoints Troop 354’s Committee Chairman
Troop 354’s Chartered Organization is the Marine Corps League; Shoreline Detachment #1027
